Site 6 - Culverts, a Barge, and More

Site 6 has a variety of structures, making it an interesting dive and fishing site. Site 6 is 9.5 nm from the Bell Buoy at a bearing of 100°, putting it about 8.4 nm offshore. Average depth at the site is 60 ft.

1990/1995 - Site 6 Center Culverts (V06-90W3)

Concrete culverts were first placed on the center of the site in 1990 and 1995. The depth is approximately 60 feet.

1994 - Site 6 NE Culverts and Poles (V06-94NE3)

Additional culverts were added to the northeast corner of the site in 1994. Some the piles are 10 feet high. This site often has schools of mangrove snapper and sheepshead. Whale sharks and large ocean sun fish have also been seen near Site 6. The center culverts are a good location for photographing colorful invertebrates.

2010 - Site 6 SSE Culverts (V06-10SE3)

In July 2010, 470 tons of large clean concrete culverts and concrete forms were placed in the south-southeast part of the site. The depth of the deposit is 71 ft. and the height is 11 ft.

2011 - Site 6 SW Culverts (V06-11SW3)

In July 2011, a barge load of large clean concrete culverts and concrete forms was placed in the southwest part of the site. The height of the deposit is approximately 9 ft.

2011 - Site 6 East Barge (V06-11E1)

On July 29, 2011, a 195 ft. barge was placed in the eastern part of the site. The barge is 10.5 ft. high.

2012 - Site 6 SSE Culverts (V06-12ESE3)

On August 9, 2012, a barge load of clean concrete culverts and clean concrete material was deposited in the south-southeast part of the site. The material is in two lines approximately 5 feet high and 80 feet long.

On August 21, 2012, a barge load of clean concrete culverts and a clean metal tank was deposited in the northeast part of the site. The material is in two lines approximately 9 feet high and 80 feet long.
